Holly says this scent is like going camping in a vanilla forest, and so we went with that. Imagine, if you will: your campfire sends up thick vanilla smoke as night falls upon your little party deep in the woods. The fire heats a chunk of old tree sap-- young amber in the making-- until it adds its golden essence to the sweet aroma. The night air from the ancient vanilla forest smells of rich earth and herbal secrets under fragrant fallen logs. In the morning, you will hunt black vanilla truffles.
Young amber, smoky vanilla, earthy patchouli and a hint of vetiver-green shadows in the underbrush.

Alas, another miss for me. I imagine on the right person, this would smell sweeter or more masculine, but I am very much smack in the middle of a patchouli-dirt-cedar storm. I am missing the vanilla.
Bottle - damp wood smoke, cedar, scotch
Wet - wood smoke, graphite, cologne, sweet cinnamon.
Dry - campground dust, sweet cinnamon, a hint of cedar sap.
It improves upon drying, but I think I'll just find another campsite.

In the bottle, it smells like marshmallows and a hint of wood. On my skin, it smells as if I have been stored in a cedar trunk with vanilla beans--two of my all time favorite scents. It dries down to a woodsy-vanilla scent.

I don't think I would have ever ordered this myself, but it a free squee of it was generously given to me with my order, so I figured I should at least give it a try.
When I opened the vial, it smelled exactly how I thought it would. Toasted marshmallow, lots of vanilla, and woodsmoke. I'm not a fan of heavy vanilla scents generally, as they tend to make me feel a bit nauseous, but this vanilla isn't as sweet as most, as it is tempered and deepened by the other notes.
Wet on my skin, it smells very musty. For the first hour or so of wearing, I was afraid I would have to run to the nearest restroom and wash it off, as I do not enjoy smelling like wet, moldering wood or paper. It reminded me of having to clean up old, soggy books that were the victims of one too many leaky pipes in the library where I work. I'm assuming this comes from the combination of the dirtier elements (patchouli, smoke, the green shadows of the vetiver). Thankfully, I was able to make it through this phase, as the drydown is much lovelier.
When dry, it smells closer to it did in the vial, but much richer and deeper. The smoke becomes more pronounced throughout the day, though the vanilla also deepens. The amber combines with the vanilla to create a sweet, but not too sweet, warmth. This is the slow, soft warmth of the dying embers of a fire. The smokiness of the scent throws me off a bit, though. I'm not sure if I want to smell like I was just out toasting marshmallows.
If it were just the deep, slightly dark, sexy vanilla, I'd say that I actually found a vanilla scent that works without being overly sweet. Even the smokiness isn't too bad for certain moods and occasions that may require it (when I feel like I need to smolder? when I'm headed to a bonfire?), and I'm on the fence about that smoke note. I might even end up liking it. My biggest difficulty with this scent is its musty start. If I can get past that, I might find this more wearable than I expected, but I'll have to know to plug my nose for the first hour or so of wear.

...and more patchouli. No smoke, and just a barest hint of sweetness. Same thing on skin - pure patchouli. I definitely expected more complex scent.

I just applied it, and straight away I got the BEST impression of woody smoke and vanilla. I feel like I've been walking through a forest of vanilla incense and campfires. I get the faintest hint of pine trees somehow--or maybe some other really tall tree. It's awesome. I love this. Remind me to buy a whole bottle of this because I'd bathe in it.

In the bottle, this smells wonderful and exactly what I wanted! A nice mix of campfires and vanilla. On my skin, however, it alternates between smelling strongly of vanilla and strongly of #2 pencils. It doesn't ever blend; it just alternates every hour or so. Luckily, I love vanilla and I really like the smell of freshly-sharpened pencils (even though it wasn't the woodsy campfire smell I was hoping for), so it all worked out in the end.

My first impressions of this scent was, fittingly enough, that it smelled like a campfire. I can definitely make out smoke and wood chips, plus a touch of dirt. It takes me back to memories of cookouts with my family, giving it a cozy comfortable feeling. My only complaint is that I was expecting a bit more vanilla to balance out the smell with some sweetness. It comes through a bit, but it always stayed pretty firmly in the background on me.

It started out very light and sweet, smelled a little like cotton candy. This had the unfortunate side-effect of making me wish my hands were edible. Afterwards, the light, sweet scents matured into darker, spicier accents. I applied it around 1:30 and it's smelling just as delicious at 10:00, just in a different way.

This is terrific on me - a perfect smoky/sweet blend of vanilla and patchouli, with just a little bit of darkness around the edge. This is no homebody vanilla - it's sexy, grown-up and ready to do awesome, slightly dangerous things.
I adore patchouli and vanilla, so I expected I'd love this, and I was only wrong in that I completely underestimated how much I would love it. If this isn't my most favourite perfume of all time, it's in the top three for sure. I'd buy it by the litre, if I could.

In the bottle this is mostly vanilla, with a bit of patchouli. When first applied, though, it's patchouli, patchouli, patchouli! A very heavy dirt smell, but one that mellows out *very* quickly, thankfully. A wave of vanilla comes in to balance it, and it becomes a nice, smoky mix of the two. There's an underlying sweetness here, but this is not a sweet scent-- it's a very strong, grown-up smell, almost incense-ish. Something I'd wear if I wanted a day to be particularly adventurous or exciting.
