Product Description

No, not desert rose. Dessert rose. We meant what we typed.

This one is a sweet, light scent for people who don't want any patchouli OR amber in their rose. Ariel kept sniffing her wrist and going "mmmm" while she was testing it; on her, the rose fades early and leaves just a hint of rosepetal in a scent of warm, sweet confectionery delight. We were originally going to name it Honeyed Rose Trifle, because "trifle" is a great word and also a dessert, before humor came in and took over our decision-making process (like it does).

Candied rosepetals layered in a boozy vanilla trifle, soaked in honey, and topped with the thinnest shaving of a crisp, bright apple.

I was scared that this would be one of those awful artificial apple scents, but it's not. It's just lovey. The rose is there, but is ends up smelling not like a flower in bloom but like one of those really ripe red apples with a natural rose-like scent. It has that vanilla-custard-honey note that I love, but that's a bit hard to come by. This perfume just works really well - it's sweet, gourmand, slightly floral, but isn't in your face. It's a lovely skin scent, and isn't over-powering or over the top. I love it

I've tried this one on twice now, in the hopes that the first time my skin was just... I dunno, being weird or something. XD

In the bottle, it smells very rose-y. Not overpowering HEY HAVE A FLOWER IN YOUR FACE, but like getting a bouquet--just enough to be pretty. There's a little bit of a sugary sweetness, but that's also not at all overpowering.

On my skin, I can only think of one thing when I smell it: SOAP. I'm not sure why, because I don't think I've ever used rose-scented soap, but I'm really not smelling anything else that's described in the bottle. Maybe juuuust a hint of the "boozy vanilla trifle", which may be where I'm getting the idea of soap. It's very fresh and clean (dab it on right after a shower for extra clean-power :D), and it's very nice on its own, but it wasn't what I was expecting from the description. XD

I love foody scents, and I love rose. This is a match made in heaven! It's pretty much just fresh rose and apple in the bottle, but when I put it on, the boozy vanilla honey sweetness makes its magical appearance. Each whiff brings something different to my nose, but there's always the rose in the background. Oh so yummy!

I really want to recreate this scent in food form. *goes off to research recipes*

  4. A Toss-Up 3 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Apr 2012

On me, this doesn't really work at all. It fades quickly, and when it lasts, it's really not my thing: generic flowers and plain sugar. Honestly, it hurts my nose. This is especially sad for me because I love apples and vanilla and rose petals and honey.

On my boyfriend, however, this is a rosy apple baked into a delicious vanilla honey-cake. So jealous.

As it's apparently a complete toss-up whether it'll be generic or amazing, I'm giving it 3 stars ;)
