Elder Spicecake: ELDER SPICES THAT MAN WAS NOT MEANT TO USE. Smoky clove, cinnamon, rum and apple puree with a strong whiff of some intrepid but unlucky adventurer's musky bay rum (applied shortly before he fell into the Elder Cake), all covered with a sticky-sweet glaze.

Straight out of the bottle it's pretty overpoweringly bitey-in-the-nose, like it wants to eat my nasal passages with bits of spiky leaf teeth.
and ten minutes later it's calmed down; it's pretty masculine, a little dark, still a tiny bit bitey. strong spice undertones with not much sweetness. probably good for those days where you want to have a stern look on your face and your Get Things Done classy glasses on. Official. Efficient. Posh, dark-panelled boardrooms, black coffee and a slightly noir motif. classy leather boots with killer heels. A chai latte for lunch while holding a folder titled 'assets to dispose of'.

At first, this scent splashed me in the face like a hot cup of Christmas-y cinnamon wassail. Then, as it stayed on a bit longer, it kind of faded into just a bit of cinnamon and clove. Later, it began to smell like a huge slice of spiced apple cake with bits of juicy apple baked into it, homemade cream frosting on top, and just a dash of nutmeg to taste. I smell delicious.

...and I wish this one came with the bottle, as it gave me a case of the giggles.
In the bottle, it was very much like Lola(which is not a bad thing, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lola).
On me, it was spicy and sweet, similar to Lola again, then as many of the scents here do-- it changed.
This was more...Spiced Apple Cider with a splash of Methasulem Rum with a slice of Raisin cake than Sex in the City meets Mad Science.
The for Science! factor? It's a sinful nightcap and treat without the side effects.
I'm going to be very evil and gift some to my sis, because it's so good.

Am I allowed to call a boozy, buttery smell elegant? Because I would like to. Delicious and completely edible, but not in a particularly sweet way. It's a very grown-up scent, and the rum, apple, spices and butter all blend together into something sophisticated and classy, yet still warm and delicious.

I work in a bakery-- which is a lot less cute and idyllic than it sounds, given that it's a grocery store bakery department and usually resembles an assembly line more than anything. Most days I come home smelling like non-stick cooking spray and dirty dish water. Eugh.
By contrast, this scent is what I feel like I SHOULD smell like after a day at work. It doesn't really smell like baked goods so much as it smells like baking. The cloves dominate at first (which is fine with me since I love them), but the apple and cinnamon really come through before too long. This is a warm, just-sweet-enough scent that lasts, and had me sniffing my wrists all day. Absolutely love it!

Mmm, cloves and butter. Certainly edible-smelling, but not like any particular kind of food, more like the kitchen itself when you've finished baking but haven't the energy to put everything away yet-- that lingering smell of pie crust and spices and just a drop of rum. At first the cloves are a tad overpowering, but after a while they allow the rest of the notes to settle in comfortably to make a truly delicious and rather sexy smell. It's also quite masculine, definitely recommended for guys who like smelling like food without being truly "foody".
