Sometimes flowers smell so good, you just want to eat them. People do put them on salads, but what if you want heartier fare? What if you want something quick, sweet and filling? GET OUT THE BREAD, IT'S TIME FOR A FLOWER SANDWICH!
Lilacs in a brown sugar sauce, sandwiched between thick slices of heavy, lightly sweetened bread. Ariel suggests inhaling deeply for a cool trick: when she does it, the scent that lingers in the back of her throat smells like good cake.

in the bottle, it's all sweet bread. it isn't until it's on my skin that the lilac comes popping out, and it's so beautiful and sweet in a complex way and i could smell this all day, honestly.
it becomes much more floral as it dries, with sweet buttery bread becoming more of a background note before eventually fading entirely. the lilac that remains is very strong, but true to life and relaxing. my boyfriend loves lilac so i think i'll eventually get full-sizes for both of us.

When I was choosing scents for my Squee Party, this was the first one that went on my MUST HAVE list for the promise of fresh baked bread with brown sugar. I used to get products from the (sadly now defunct) Body Perfumery scented with a mix of their Fresh Baked Bread, Sweet Milk and Brown Sugar, so this sounded right up my alley. As I'd hoped, the bread smell is very strong and it's not too floral. Love it.

I recently purchased a squee party and, while I enjoyed many of the scents, this one was my standout favorite. I can definitely smell flowers and gooey, buttery brown sugar sauce. The "bread" note doesn't so much smell like bread to me as rich, flaky, pastry crust. If I were to actually bake a flower pie, it would probably smell like this. It almost makes me want to try!

One of the problems I've had with lilac perfumes in the past is they do that "bathroom spray" thing where they just smell very powdery and bland. This however is different! It has that wonderful honeyed sweetness that you get from a faceful of fresh lilacs -- without the threat of bee stings -- and it's not overly bready or cakey from those sweet notes. The green freshness underlying the gentle pale purple floral is even more wonderful, with that "cake" base to hold it in place and keep it from wandering off into powder puff territory. This is the first year that I have been in an area where lilacs do not grow in the spring, but this perfume is helping me to assuage my nostalgic cravings.
