POM-POM PARTY HAT STATUS: INSTALLED. BIRTHDAY CAKE STATUS: ACTIVATED. FESTIVITY GET!
A white layer cake and frosting with sprinkles, crushed underneath a gleaming metal foot the size of a camper van. The gritty tang of machinery and heavy industry makes a sweet slice all the sweeter.

One of my favorite smells is the scent of hot cutting oil used in a machine shop -- sweet, metallic, rather thin (like a well-honed knife). I also LUUUV the smell of a well aged book, as the lignin slowly turns into a vanillin-analog. I found GRBP and said "Two of my favorites, oh boy!"
On me, there was a bit of the metal and oil, but it was overlaid by something going wrong and letting out the magic computer smoke -- electrical, some smoldering insulation. The vanilla was there, but only as a quickly fading afterthought. The robot appeared displeased by my birthday offering; I must seek other scents.

I got this as a freebie in my squee set. This wasn't a scent I had considered, and I was skeptical about it because I wasn't sure how well the smell of metal would work. I was very pleasantly surprised! In the bottle it smelled like vanilla cake, and was also somewhat coconutty. On me, the metallic tang complemented the vanilla very well and added a pleasant sharpness to it. I had my mom smell it on me and she liked it, saying that it smelled kind of like coconut. After a long time it faded to a vanilla cake smell. I was very impressed and I'm glad Holly and Ariel thought to sneak this one in.

My best friend is a cake decorator. She is also OBSESSED with Transformers. Never did I think I would find a present that suited her so perfectly. This site really has a sent suited for everyone. I can't really give this an in-depth review, since all of the cake fragrances smell awful on me, but on my best friend it's a winner! The metallic smell sticks to her, smoothed by the cakey vanilla.

When I first put this one, I did get a little of the machine-oil robotty smell with vanilla. That faded after it dried, then the scent was vanilla, a little cakey, with the smell of birthday candles. I like vanilla a lot, so I can't complain, but the robot does leave the party pretty early.

When I first tried out this scent, I had an immediate impression of vanilla and...something else. It was painfully familiar, but it took me a while to put my finger on it. I eventually realized that this scent (at least when it's on me) is nearly a dead ringer for vanilla votive candles. The "heavy industry" smell is slightly stronger than what I would expect from a paraffin candle and reminds me a bit of burnt rubber (but not too strongly and not in a particularly unpleasant way). I do like vanilla candles, but I guess I was hoping a little more of a definite "cake" smell rather than just vanilla.
